Condor’s Nest Ranch Wedding, Pala :: Sarah + Trey

Condor’s Nest Ranch Wedding, Pala CA

We have been anticipating this Pala Wedding at Condor’s Nest Ranch because we’ve heard so many great things about this venue, and even then it exceeded our expectations!  Sarah and Trey are such an amazing couple to work with, and their love for each other is so evident.  We loved listening to the touching vows they wrote for each other, there were many happy tears to photograph on this day!  (Check out the ‘Hankies for your tears, or your pockets’ clothesline of handkerchiefs the couple built!)  You can tell by the detail images below that lots of time was spent into creating them, they are so beautiful and creative!  Also love how the Condor’s Nest Ranch provides mismatched dinner plates, the designs go so well together – so fun!  Thanks to Ady from Makeup By Ady for making Sarah and her bridesmaids look extra pretty.  Hair by Brandy Sanford (Porter & Hudson Salon, Pacific Beach).   Cute cupcakes were cut for cake cutting, provided by Baby Cakes.  Wedding gown from D’Angelo, Mission Valley.  Hope we get to photograph at the Condor’s Nest Ranch again soon.  Click here to see more rustic San Diego weddings.

Balboa Park Engagement Session :: Jessica + Michael

Jessica and Michael chose Balboa Park for their engagement session, and specifically wanted to have shots taken at the Organ Pavillion.  During their shoot, ‘The National Anthem’ was being played on the organ, and the couple took a moment to listen and salute the flag.  Michael plays the lead trumpet in the U.S. Navy, and I love that he brought his instrument along so that it could be incorporated into the session.  Enjoy your sneak peeks guys, the rest are coming soon!

La Jolla Cove Family Portraits :: Brittany, Fred + Addison

It was such a pleasure working with this lovely family again.  Lovin’ the outfit choices as always – I’m sure this is mommy’s doing.  I dig the vintage feel and how all the colors go so well together.  Really enjoyed working with Little Addison, so many of the cute little things she does remind me of the stages our little ones are going through right now – so sweet.

Wedding Makeup Tips From A Photographer

Just wanted to give you ladies a few makeup tips that I think will help you look extra gorgeous in pictures!  I worked in a salon and did wedding makeup for a few years prior to shooting weddings, and these tips are intended to make you look beautiful up close and in person as well.

False Eyelashes – If  you’re open to false eyelashes, they can make a huge difference!  Opt for a wispier natural set as opposed to super long and thick, and have them put on professionally.  A thick lashline really makes an impact in your wedding images!

Eye Shadow – Whichever color you do choose, make sure it’s there even if it is a natural color.  (Shimmer is nice)  Eyes with definition look great when eyes are open, but especially in shots when you’re hugging and greeting guests, or kissing your husband and your eyes are closed.

Rosy Cheeks – Even if you don’t usually wear much blush, don’t skip this step, it really helps to contour your cheekbones, and again makes a huge difference in how your face will photograph.  I love it when a three shade blush technique is used.  The darker shade in the hollows of cheeks, medium shade on the apples of the cheeks, and the lightest shade on the area between your nose and apples of your cheeks.  Blend….and beautiful! (or for summer weddings,  bronzer can give you a natural glow)

Lips – I love dramatic ‘hello eyes’ with natural super glossy lips.  Even if you’re smooching all day, the majority of your makeup will still be on and you can always reapply your gloss as needed.  Lightly lining with natural pencil and filling in before glossing will do the trick

Foundation – I am a huge fan of mineral makeup (glow minerals is my favorite), the minerals have light reflectors to make skin look and photograph extra smooth, they give you an amazing glow.  The zinc is an anti-inflammatory so it’s perfect for covering up a pimple or redness if needed.
